Dr. Thomas Blom, O.D. provides comprehensive eye care for patients of all ages at our Sarasota office inside Visionworks. He takes the time to explain what he finds during each exam, so patients leave understanding their eye health and their options for clear, comfortable vision.
Dr. Blom earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed his Bachelor of Science in Vision Science and his Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago.
His clinical training included internships at the Augustana Home for Exceptional Children and the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind. That experience caring for children with special needs and for patients living with low vision shaped the patient, thoughtful approach he brings to every exam.
Dr. Blom has passed the examinations of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and is licensed by the Florida Board of Optometry.
He has a long record of service in the Sarasota community. Dr. Blom previously served on the boards of the Manasota Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which helps people with vision loss live independently, and The Haven in Sarasota, which supports children and adults with disabilities.
