Early detection is key

The surprising truth about eye disease is that there are often no symptoms early on. Regular exams with retinal imaging and pressure checks let us catch problems while there is the best chance to protect your vision.

Conditions we diagnose and manage

Seen through our slit lamp

These photos and videos were taken with the camera on our slit lamp microscope during real exams and are shared without any identifying details.

PseudoexfoliationFlaky white material collects in a ring on the front of the lens, visible inside the pupil. It raises the risk of glaucoma and can make cataract surgery more complex, so we check eye pressure and the optic nerve closely.
Vitreous prolapseThe clear gel that normally fills the back of the eye has moved forward through the pupil. It can happen after eye surgery or injury, and we watch closely for inflammation and pressure changes.
Posterior capsule opacification (PCO)After cataract surgery, the thin capsule that holds the lens implant can turn hazy, seen here as streaky cloudiness behind the pupil. Vision blurs again, and a quick laser treatment by the surgeon (YAG capsulotomy) usually clears it.

Narrated by Dr. Tumolo

Map-dot-fingerprint dystrophy (EBMD)Epithelial basement membrane dystrophy leaves map, dot and fingerprint patterns on the cornea and can cause blurry vision or painful erosions.
Evaluating pseudoexfoliation syndromeDr. Tumolo examines the flaky deposits of pseudoexfoliation on the lens, a finding that raises the risk of glaucoma.
“Probably the best eye care I've ever had (I'm 65 and have worn glasses since I was 2). The examination is thorough and the doctor takes time to explain everything to you. They are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I recommend them all the time.”
