Dr. Brian Armitage brings more than four decades of experience in optometry, with an extensive background in clinical research, specialty contact lenses and comprehensive eye care. He sees patients at our Odessa and East Lake offices and at our Port Richey office inside Visionworks.

Dr. Armitage earned his undergraduate degree in Physiological Optics from The Ohio State University in 1979, followed by his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1981. He stayed at Ohio State for a two-year contact lens residency, researching the corneal swelling associated with overnight extended contact lens wear. After completing his research and thesis, he earned a Master of Science degree in Physiological Optics in 1983.

He served as an instructor and Assistant Clinical Professor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry and spent several years conducting clinical contact lens research. He also served as Head of Worldwide Clinical Research at Johnson & Johnson Vistakon, the company behind ACUVUE® contact lenses.

After his academic and research career, Dr. Armitage practiced optometry in Ohio and then opened his own private practice in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2004. In 2022 he joined Beyond 2020 Vision Specialists, where he cares for patients in Odessa, East Lake, Port Richey and the surrounding communities.
