Pickleball & Golf Glasses

Pickleball & Golf Glasses

See the ball sooner and sharper.

In pickleball and golf, small things in your glasses make a real difference: color fringes at the edge of the lens, a reading zone in the wrong place, glare off the court or a wrap frame that distorts your prescription. Our licensed opticians build sport glasses around your prescription and your game, in Maui Jim, Nike and Adidas sport frames or in many of our everyday frames, at our Odessa and East Lake (Palm Harbor) offices.

Trivex lensesImpact resistant and light, with sharper optics than standard polycarbonate.
High Abbe valueLess color fringing at the edges, so the ball stays crisp when it’s off to the side.
Correct base curveWrap frames need lenses designed for the curve, or the prescription blurs.
Premium anti-reflective coatingCuts glare and reflections from lights, water and sun.
Light tintsFor contrast on the court or the course without making things too dark.
An accurate prescriptionSmall errors matter more when you’re tracking a fast ball.

Pickleball glasses

Pickleball is fast, played close to the net, and eye injuries from the ball are common, especially for players over 50. Sport glasses protect your eyes and help you pick up the ball off the paddle.

  • Impact-resistant Trivex lenses in a secure sport frame, in your prescription or without one.
  • Sharp side vision. High-Abbe lenses and the correct base curve keep the ball clear when it’s coming from the side.
  • Indoor or outdoor. Clear lenses with premium anti-reflective coating for indoor courts, or a light contrast tint for outdoor play.
  • Progressive wearers: we can set up a dedicated sport pair with the reading area kept low and small, or a distance-only pair, so the ball stays clear at every height.

Golf glasses

Many golfers with progressive lenses notice that the ball looks blurry at address, because they’re looking through the reading part of the lens. Others struggle to follow the ball in the sky or read the green.

  • A golf-friendly lens layout, with the reading area set lower or kept small so the ball at your feet is sharp, while you can still read a scorecard or GPS.
  • Clear distance vision for following the ball and judging distance down the fairway.
  • A light tint that improves contrast without hiding the break of the green, and glare control for sunny Florida rounds.
  • Comfort for 18 holes: lightweight lenses and a frame fitted to stay put through your swing.

How we make them

  1. An accurate, up-to-date prescription. If your last exam was a while ago, we start with one, because the lenses can only be as good as the prescription.
  2. Tell us about your game. Indoor or outdoor, which hand, where you look, and what bothers you now.
  3. Choose a frame from Maui Jim, Nike, Adidas or our everyday frames that suit sport.
  4. Precise measurements by our licensed opticians, including how the frame sits on your face, so the optics are right in a wrap.

Sport and prescription sunglasses are often FSA and HSA eligible. See using your FSA or HSA on glasses.

Common questions

What lenses are best for pickleball?

Impact-resistant lenses in a secure frame. We often use Trivex because it’s impact resistant, light and optically sharp, with a premium anti-reflective coating or a light tint depending on whether you play indoors or outdoors.

Why does the golf ball look blurry with my progressives?

At address you’re looking down through the reading part of the lens, which is focused for up close, not for a ball at your feet. A golf pair with the reading area placed lower or smaller usually fixes it.

Can I get sport glasses in my prescription?

Yes. We make prescription sport glasses in Maui Jim, Nike and Adidas sport frames, and in many everyday frames.

What is an Abbe value?

It describes how much a lens material spreads light into colors. A higher Abbe value means less color fringing toward the edges of the lens, so vision stays crisper when you look off to the side.

Do I need an eye exam first?

If your prescription is more than a year old, we recommend one, because an accurate prescription makes the biggest difference in how clearly you see the ball.
