Sunglasses
Sunglasses, in your prescription or not.
Florida sun is bright all year. At our Odessa and East Lake (Palm Harbor) offices, you can choose sunglasses with or without a prescription, including Maui Jim and Revo, or have any frame we carry made into a pair of sunglasses.
Use your vision benefits, FSA or HSA for prescription sunglasses before many plans reset at the end of the year. How it works.
Choosing your lenses
- Polarized. Cuts glare from water, wet roads and car hoods. A favorite for driving, boating and fishing. Polarized lenses are ordered from the lab.
- Tinted (non-polarized). Classic sunglass lenses in your prescription that block UV and reduce brightness.
- Light-responsive (photochromic). Clear indoors and darker in the sun, so one pair works inside and out. At our Odessa office, most single-vision pairs in gray can be made the same day.
- Non-prescription. Sunglasses for everyone, including people who wear contact lenses.
Our opticians will help you pick the right lens for how you'll use them. See all of our frames and lens options.
Why sunglasses matter for your eyes
Over time, UV light is linked to cataracts and other eye problems, and bright glare makes driving tiring and less safe. Good sunglasses that block UV, worn year-round, are one of the simplest ways to protect your eyes. Kids need sun protection too.
Common questions
Can I get Maui Jim sunglasses in my prescription?
Yes. Our Odessa and East Lake offices offer Maui Jim sunglasses with or without a prescription. Bring your prescription or have your eyes examined with us, and our opticians will help you choose a style.
Do you have polarized prescription sunglasses?
Yes. We make Revo sunglasses with polarized or non-polarized lenses, and polarized lenses are available in many of our frames. Polarized lenses are ordered from the lab, so they take longer than our same-day glasses.
Can my regular frames be made into sunglasses?
Yes. Any frame in our Odessa and East Lake offices can be made with clear lenses, tinted sunglass lenses or light-responsive (photochromic) lenses.
What is the difference between polarized and light-responsive lenses?
Polarized lenses are sunglass lenses that cut glare from water, roads and car hoods. Light-responsive (photochromic) lenses are clear indoors and darken outside in the sun, so one pair works inside and out.
Can I get light-responsive glasses the same day?
Often, yes. At our Odessa office, most single-vision glasses with gray light-responsive lenses can be made while you wait. Polarized lenses are ordered and take longer.
Can I use my FSA or HSA for prescription sunglasses?
In most cases, yes. Prescription sunglasses are a common FSA and HSA eligible expense, and some vision plans include an allowance for them. Check your plan, or ask us and we'll help.
