Lightweight Titanium Frames

Lightweight Titanium & Handmade Frames

Frames you forget you’re wearing.

If your glasses leave red marks on your nose, slide down, or feel heavy by the end of the day, the frame is usually the reason. We carry ultra-lightweight titanium frames from makers in Denmark, Austria, Italy and Japan, with many styles under 10 grams, light enough that most people stop noticing them. They’re also remarkably strong and flexible. Every pair is fitted by our licensed opticians at our Odessa and East Lake (Palm Harbor) offices.

The frames we carry

  • LINDBERG (Denmark). Founded in Aarhus, Denmark in 1969, Lindberg is known for minimal titanium designs without screws or rivets, including its signature spiral hinge. Its Air Titanium Rim styles weigh only about 3 grams, and many frames can be personalized in size, shape and color.
  • Silhouette (Austria). Handcrafted in Linz, Austria, Silhouette’s rimless titanium frames, including the iconic TMA (Titan Minimal Art), are screwless, hingeless, hypoallergenic and extremely lightweight.
  • Reykjavik Eyes Black Label (Italy, Japanese titanium). Designed by Reykjavik Eyes and crafted in Italy from Japanese titanium, Black Label frames are thin, strong and flexible, with clean modern shapes.
  • The Beyond Collection (Japanese titanium). Our own line, made from Japanese titanium and chosen by our team for comfort, strength and everyday wear. See more in designer frames.

Glasses that don’t hurt your nose

Pressure on the nose comes from the total weight of your glasses, frame and lenses together, and from how the frame sits on your face. We work on both:

  • A lighter frame from the lines above.
  • Thinner, lighter lenses. High-index and Trivex lenses cut lens weight, especially for strong prescriptions, and rimless and semi-rimless styles let us keep lenses small.
  • The right nose pads. Soft adjustable pads spread the weight over a larger area, and our opticians set them so the frame rests evenly instead of pinching.
  • A proper fit behind the ears, so the temples share the load and the glasses don’t slide down.

Who these frames are for

People who wear glasses all day, people with strong prescriptions who want lighter, thinner glasses, anyone with sensitive skin or a metal allergy, and anyone who wants a premium, handmade frame that will last. Titanium frames also work well for progressive lenses and prescription sunglasses.

Common questions

What are the lightest glasses frames?

Rimless and thin-wire titanium frames are among the lightest available. Many styles we carry from Lindberg, Silhouette, Reykjavik Eyes Black Label and our own Beyond Collection weigh under 10 grams, and some Lindberg Air Titanium Rim styles weigh about 3 grams.

Why do my glasses hurt my nose?

Usually because the glasses are heavy, the lenses are thick, or the nose pads don’t fit well. A lighter titanium frame, thinner lenses and properly adjusted pads usually fix it.

Is titanium strong enough for everyday wear?

Yes. Titanium is very strong for its weight, flexible and corrosion resistant, so thin titanium frames hold up well to daily use.

Are titanium frames good for metal allergies?

Titanium is hypoallergenic and is a common choice for people who react to nickel. Tell us about any allergy so we can recommend the right frame and pads.

Can I use my vision benefits or FSA for these frames?

Often, yes. Vision plan frame allowances and FSA or HSA funds can usually be applied to premium frames. We’ll check your benefits before your visit.
