A family practice, not a franchise.
Beyond 2020 Vision Specialists is independent and family owned. We're not a franchise or a chain.
Dr. Tumolo moved to Tampa Bay at the age of two and grew up here. Eye care was the family trade: his father, Dominick Tumolo, worked as a licensed optician for 30 years. Dr. Tumolo became both a licensed optician and an optometrist, and in 2020 he and his wife, Dr. Than, opened Beyond 2020 Vision Specialists. Yes, Beyond 2020 really did open in 2020.
It's still a family practice today. Dr. Than, the practice's co-founder and co-owner, is one of our optometrists, and Dr. Tumolo's brother, Stephen Tumolo, a licensed optician, manages our Odessa and East Lake offices. Dr. Tumolo, Dr. Than and Stephen have spent their entire careers in eye care, and Dominick has retired after three decades in the field.
When you visit, you're cared for by the family that owns the practice, in the community Dr. Tumolo calls home.
We're also a teaching practice. Beyond 2020 is an approved clinical rotation site for the Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions College of Optometry, and beginning in 2027 our doctors will help train future optometrists. Students always work under the direct supervision of a licensed doctor. Read the announcement
